Slowing Down for Balance

Hi Reader!

Last night my kid freaked out that she wasn't "doing as much at school" as she thought she should. She thinks that she should be functioning at the same level as she was last year.

We've now moved three times and have been living out of suitcases for over a month since the flood. Meanwhile, she's practicing Spanish for an in-person interview, doing a project for the science fair, analyzing a novel for the first time, being a part of a business group capstone project, and directing the school play with a 30+ cast.

It's a wonder she hasn't broken down and cried sooner. She's definitely my kid, pushing herself harder than anyone else ever could.

"When a plane hits turbulence, going the same speed creates harm. So we have to slow down," I said to her.

And then I realized something... I'm need to set a better example for her and slow down too rather than pushing myself to get 3 articles written per week, build out a new product, navigate insurance chaos, and manage multiple assignments for my full-time job.

For the time being, I'm going to pause sending the newsletter out.

Thanks for understanding, Reader. And if you're managing turbulence, I hope you'll take some time to slow down too.

💜Mandy

Hi Reader! I’m looking for a new place for the fam to live next month. The renovation from the flood is taking longer than they planned, and the temporary rental was only for a month. But I wanted to sit down and make sure I didn’t forget to send you this email. I really dislike when I forget to email you each week! I've been doing a little bit of digital spring cleaning lately and came across this presentation template for proposing pilots. This is what I used when I was proposing new...

A crowd of people are throwing confetti in the air

Hi Reader! I hope you had a restful weekend holiday. My life is still a little disjointed managing without my house and all our stuff. Living in suitcases sucks y'all... but I do have some good news! On Friday I got a message from one mentee that they have accepted an offer. And then on Sunday, another mentee shared that they accepted an offer! 🥳 Another mentee's contract is ending so they're starting to look again. In honor of all their hard work, I'm thought I'd share the ID Agency List...

Hi Reader! I'm taking a moment to recognize a small win business. It’s so small it’s almost embarrassing to share. But then I realized with the housing disruption going on right now, any win I make is huge. I've started creating a new course, From Inbox to Offer, the email blueprint for job seekers. I got one lesson done last week, with plans to build out everything from the cover email to negotiating the salary. Building a business is really hard. Most people focus on the really big wins to...
